Andrew Tepper, a licensed psychotherapist (LCSW), is the founder of BODA Therapy and brings 20 years of experience in individual and group psychotherapy in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. His therapeutic approach is integrative and holistic, engaging the imagination and calling upon a lifelong interest in music, the creative arts and the outdoors. Andrew believes that successful treatment is predicated upon having a strong bond, or a “therapeutic alliance” between the client and therapist. Consequently, he listens deeply and reflectively to sustain a connective, compassionate, and safe environment that promotes trust, healing, and personal growth. He values humor as a way to connect with others, and his love for meditation and mindfulness-based stress reduction also informs how he approaches both his work and life.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from Bates College and received his Masters of Social Work degree from Columbia University School of Social Work. He has received extensive training in Psychodrama, Sociometry, and Group Psychotherapy from the Hudson Valley Psychodrama Institute. In addition, he draws from years of training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness techniques to mitigate symptoms of depression and anxiety.
Andrew specializes in working with pre-adolescents, adolescents, adults and families. His areas of focus include anxiety, depression, mood disorders, stress reduction, anger management, and conflict resolution. In addition, Andrew has consulted as a facilitator for the Eileen Fisher Leadership Institute, and has devoted more than three years to working with Veterans through the non-profit organization, Intersections International. At Intersections, Andrew helped Veterans to process their experiences and heal by making music that addresses themes surrounding war.
In his free time, Andrew enjoys spending time with friends and family, jogging as a meditative practice, and making music. He also enjoys traveling, laughing, and culinary adventures.
